Perspective 01

Shelf stability is a market requirement, not a marketing claim.

Shelf stability is valuable only when it is connected to a real product, a real route to market, and real handling conditions.

For nutrition products intended to move across distance or operate in complex distribution environments, shelf life is not a standalone feature. It interacts with ingredients, processing, packaging, storage, transport, labelling, buyer requirements, and the realities of the destination market.

Start with the use case.

A credible product pathway begins by asking where, how, and by whom a product will be used. Ambient storage, heat exposure, access to clean water, serving format, local acceptance, import requirements, and final-mile distribution can all influence whether a shelf-stable option is appropriate.

Specifications must follow evidence.

At NBB's current stage, a shelf-life number or product format must be validated rather than assumed. A proposed specification needs qualified technical input and must reflect buyer, manufacturer, and destination-market requirements.

What this means for NBB.

NBB is evaluating pathways where shelf stability may support practical delivery. No final product specification, format, nutritional profile, packaging configuration, or shelf-life claim has been confirmed.
